Most professional photographers cry foul when asked what impact smartphone cameras have had on their industry.

Instagrammers might consider themselves artists, but they’re actually just ‘phoneographers,’ traditionalists say.

While photographs of your coffee or pet pooch may not qualify as art, it is hard to dispute the artistic value of the 8th annual iPhone photography contest winning selections.

The gorgeous, non-photoshopped shots – all captured using an Apple iPhone, iPod or iPad – prove that high-end cameras aren’t necessarily vital in creating visually stunning images.

Florida-based art director and digital strategist Julio Lucas took out first prize with his brilliant landscape photo.  Winners from 17 different countries were also honored in specific categories such as architecture, landscape, animals, flowers and sunsets.
