Building Art Curatorial Program Commissions Duggal Client Alex Cao

Our good friend Alex Guofeng Cao was recently commissioned to liven up a New York City building lobby. Alex worked with Building Art Curatorial Program (BACP) visionary Cindy Glanzrock to create an Elvis-themed installation at 270 Madison Ave.

“This building is filled with lawyers, and the lawyers needed to sort of be entertained a bit with something that was creative, intellectual and inspiring, but at the same time, fun and recognizable,” Glanzrock says.

Alex is known for his images of cultural icons composed of mini-pixel images of other cultural icons. Look closely at the 270 Madison installation and you’ll see tiny portraits of Andy Warhol.

Duggal had a blast collaborating with Alex and Cindy, not only to produce the site-specific piece, but also to execute a challenging install. Check out the video below for the full story; it’s really quite cool.
