Associates at Duggal often wear many hats. One such associate is Assistant Manager of Retail, Brian Renaldo. Brian has always had a passion for creativity, and an unprecedented work ethic. Combining those characteristics and his education at Purchase College, he honed his skills as a printmaker. Because of the excellent portfolio of work he built, Brian earned a residency at Newark Print Shop, proposed to him by fellow Purchase Alumni, Lizz DeSimone, following her own residency.
Hoping to provide affordable access to print making tools, the shop was founded in 2012 by Lisa Conrad. It began as a weekly Open Studio Print Club, and has evolved into a cooperative, collaborative artistic environment in Downtown Newark, NJ. Still holding their weekly “open studio” on Wednesdays, Newark Print Shop now offers silkscreen, letterpress, papermaking, and copper plate etching resources, along with its very own dark room.
Not only has this experience given Brian the opportunity to continue improving his established talents, but it has also has provided him the ability to use new tools and learn new mediums — specifically letterpress.
Brian, along with co-residents Kristian Battell and Lizzy Storm, will have an opening reception for the work they’ve completed on Saturday, March 7th. The show will run from March 7th — May 2, 2015
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 7th from 7-10pm at Newark Print Shop, 304 University Ave Newark, NJ 07102
