Fashion Fact #11- Ruby Slippers

For the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, it is believed, seven different pairs of ruby slippers were created by the wardrobe department. The where about of only four pairs are known. One set is located in the Smithsonian’s collection, two in the hands of private collectors, and one was stolen in 2005 from the Judy Garland Museum. When the last pair was auctioned in 2000 they fetched a hefty $666,000.
