Fashion Fact #42- Cowboy Boots

Cowboy Boots: Historically, cowboy boots were worn by cowboys and made from cowhide leather. They were designed for easy insertion and removal of the foot into the western saddle stirrup. The tall leather shaft protected cowboys from rubbing, rocks, brush, thorns, mud and water.

Cowboy boots have a heel of about one or two inches, they have a rounded or pointed toe, a tall shaft, and traditionally, no laces. Today cowboy boots are worn as riding boots as well as for fashion and can be made from a variety of materials including suede, alligator, snake, ostrich, lizard, and more.
