New York Public Library: The New York Public Library is the largest public library in North America and is one of the most significant research libraries. David McCullough, historian, described the New York Public Library as one of the five most important libraries in the U.S. along with the Library of Congress, the Boston Public Library, the Harvard Library and the Yale Library.

The New York Public Library currently has 87 libraries including: 4 non-lending research libraries, 4 main lending libraries, a library for the blind and physically impaired, and over 75 neighborhood branch libraries in Manhattan, The Bronx and Staten Island.
