[insider] NEW YORK #9 – Grand Central Terminal

Grand Central Terminal: Grand Central Terminal (GCT) is located at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in New York City. In October, 1871 Grand Central Depot was opened and provided service for the Hudson River Railroad, the Harlem Railroad, and the New Haven Railroad in one station.

Between 1903 and 1913 the building was torn down and replaced with the current GCT building. Today, GCT is the largest train station in the world by number of platforms – 44 high-level platforms and 67 tracks. Grand Central Terminal services those traveling on the Metro-North Railroad and houses the 4, 5, 6, 7, and S subway lines.
