Remembering Alfred Wertheimer

This week Duggal remembers Alfred Wertheimer, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 19th. Wertheimer was 85.

Celebrated for his work as a young photographer capturing the rising stardom of Elvis Presley, Wertheimer’s images also capture America of the 1950s as the 21-year-old singer navigated his growing celebrity in everyday places.

“Alfred Wertheimer always used to say, ‘If your pictures are boring, get closer’,” said editor Nina Wiener, contributor to the recent Taschen publication Elvis and the Birth of Rock And Roll.
