5 Shining Examples of Sustainability at Duggal s Brooklyn Navy Yard Campus

Environmental responsibility and sustainability are crucial to the future of the printing industry and, on a larger scale, our planet. At Duggal, going green is just the beginning. We are constantly pursuing new processes and initiatives with the environment in mind. Explore some of the innovative, sustainable operations powering our presence in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. LEED Gold Certified Production Headquarters Our main production hub, BNY Building 25, is the first printing facility ever to receive LEED Gold certification. The 100,000-square-foot building features solar panels, wind turbines, living walls for natural ventilation, high efficiency sensor driven LED lighting, and a rainwater recycling system, making it the most eco-friendly manufacturing facility of its kind.

National Grid Award for Energy Efficiency Our Brooklyn venue, the Duggal Greenhouse, serves as a laboratory in new technology, utilizing solar energy, organic air purification and eco-friendly building practices. A panel of judges from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and its Real Estate & Development Committee recognized the Greenhouse with the National Grid Award for Energy Efficiency, placing the popular event center among a cast of businesses and innovators enriching Brooklyn s culture, economy and identity. Rainforest Alliance & Forest Stewardship Council Certifications Duggal Visual Solutions has held Rainforest Alliance and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifications for years. The Rainforest Alliance is an international non-profit organization working to protect forests, improve the livelihoods of farmers and forest communities, promote human rights, and help mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis. Similarly, FSC promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world s forests.   Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP); Specific to the printing industry, Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) advocates for best practices and innovation among print community stakeholders, aligning the industry and its customers in the pursuit of a more accountable and sustainable supply chain. SGP certification elevates a printer into an elite group of top sustainable printers, recognized by both print buyers and the printing industry, the organization says. In addition to its LEED accolade, Duggal s BNY Building 25 is also certified by SGP.   Monarch Waystation Our team members not only recognize, but actively embrace our corporate ethos of stewardship and sustainability with their bare hands and boots on the ground. BNY Building 25 is home to Monarch Waystation #22029. Certified by the University of Kansas non-profit Monarch Watch program, Monarch Waystations provide milkweeds, nectar and shelter for monarch butterflies, a threatened species, on their 3,000-plus mile migration. We recognize that it s not always about making another print, said Jerid O Connell, VP of Duggal Creative Services. It s about making a difference. That s what completes who we are as a company, family and community. Read our full sustainability policy.
