Artists, photographers and brands alike are discovering the unique benefits of Vibrachrome™ metal prints by Duggal. These prints are ideal for museum and gallery exhibitions, environmental graphics, outdoor displays, retail, hospitality and many other use cases.
The process behind printing to metal is just as interesting as the final piece itself. A specially coated paper printed on a dye-sublimation press is transferred to a separate press that heats the print against the face of the metal at 400 degrees F. As the water in the ink evaporates, the ink transitions from a solid to gaseous state. After the metal cools, the ink becomes permanent and scratch-resistant, with no lamination needed.
To create a vibrant, permanent, long-lasting image on metal, we use two specialty commercial presses:
Roland Texart XT-640
Developed specifically for dye-sublimation printing, the Texart XT-640 from Roland DG delivers prolific print quality in long print runs. It’s fast, efficient, and versatile. We’re able to choose from hundreds of ink colors including fluorescents, printing with excellent color quality and accuracy onto a variety of materials such as metal.
941 TRITON
From the Texart, Vibrachrome™ prints move to our 941 TRITON press. The 941 TRITON provides a stable, solid work base with oversized and heat pressing capabilities. Typical heat transfer applications include banners, garments, carpets, mats, woods, metals, plastics and more.
