September 29 is National Coffee Day in the U.S., with International Coffee Day following on October 1.
On these caffeinated days (and also the other 363 days of the year), we celebrate the all-around goodness of coffee, including the importance and positive impacts of sustainable practices. As a printing and graphics supplier to the world’s most recognized coffee brands, we also enjoy taking a look at some of our best coffee shop work over a cup of Joe.
Starbucks
The Starbucks experience is one of personalized service, environmental awareness and ethical sourcing stitched together with cohesive, creative design. We’re proud to work alongside Starbucks’ world-class retail design team to develop unique visuals and neighborhood themes in many of the company’s high-traffic New York City locations.
Dunkin’
We’re not here to debate; we love all coffee and all clients. With the challenge of creating attention-grabbing visuals for Dunkin’s first-ever single origin and Rainforest Alliance Certified™ Colombian Packaged Coffee, Duggal Packaging Comp Division partnered with LAM Design to replicate the unique foil effects and subtle interplay of opaque matte, white and gloss that designers had developed—properties that are not viewable on a computer screen.
Illy
Illy’s signature blend is orchestrated with nine different pure Arabica beans from four continents, and is sworn by across 140 countries around the world. What truly defines the Illy brand, though, is its attention to every slightest detail in every facet of design and visual communication.
With state-of-the-art digital printing and expert color management, Duggal crafted each feature of Illy’s thoughtful gift set packaging, from intricate spot varnishing to the distinct “Illy red,” delivering a flawless packaging comp for Sawyer Design Vision’s client.
“After other suppliers had told me they simply ‘couldn’t do it,’ Duggal Packaging showed superior capability,” agency founder Michele Sawyer said. “They got it right the first time, and touring their facility was a fascinating learning experience of its own.”
Nespresso
Inviting coffee lovers to “experience the revolution of coffee,” the Nespresso VertuoLine redefined the single-cup home brewing market by creating a unique system that brews both coffee and authentic espresso with tantalizing aroma and rich flavor.
Nespresso introduced the VertuoLine in North America at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City and State Street in Chicago with showcase window installations as sharp and sleek as the VertuoLine machine itself. Duggal worked with the Nespresso creative team to produce and install eye-catching displays that entice chilly shoppers to come inside and envision the perfect cup.
Keurig Green Mountain
The brew button is always on at Keurig Green Mountain’s Burlington, Mass. innovation center just outside of Boston. The leader in single serve beverage systems continuously sources and packages hundreds of coffee varieties from leading brands to pair with its hassle-free machines, including many Fair Trade Certified, organic and specialty blends.
Drawing inspiration from the world’s most prized coffee growing regions —or “coffeelands”—Keurig Green Mountain serves visual ingenuity to its headquarters’ visitors and employees through unique, custom wall murals developed by Duggal Visual Solutions and Gensler. One mural imitates the texture of a burlap coffee bag to an impressive level of detail, thanks to high-resolution scanning and hours of retouching by the Duggal Creative Studio. Another appears as a fun and inviting chalkboard, hand-painted and paired with magnetic stencils. From one area of the office to the next, this caffeine paradise is as refreshing and enlivening as a cup of any Keurig Green Mountain brew.
Happy National (and International) Coffee Day to all!
