The Duggal Greenhouse is a 2015 Building Brooklyn Awards winner.
A panel of judges from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and its Real Estate & Development Committee recognized Duggal’s flagship venue and off-grid technology with this year’s National Grid Award for Energy Efficiency, aligning the Greenhouse with a cast of businesses and innovators who are enriching Brooklyn’s culture, economy and identity. The winners will attend the 15th annual Building Brooklyn Awards ceremony and reception July 21 at King’s Theater.
“We are proud to be at the center of an exciting time for Brooklyn and its people,” said Duggal Visual Solutions founder Baldev Duggal, the visionary behind the Duggal Greenhouse. “Brooklyn is the new Manhattan; together we are building this borough into a new global capital for art, culture and science.”
The Greenhouse is a modern marvel of architecture and engineering. It is the first venue of its kind, a hybrid center for entertainment and sustainability on the banks of the East River in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. While attracting the likes of Nike, AOL, IBM and Lady Gaga, sustainable development remains at the core of the venue’s identity. In 2013, former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg unveiled his $20 billion storm defense proposal here; and in 2014, Al Gore chose the Greenhouse to host ’24 Hours of Reality’ leading up to Climate Week NYC.
