As New York City’s most recognizable landmark, the Empire State Building attracts more than 6 million visitors each year. Featuring breathtaking 360-degree views from the 86th and 102nd floor observatories, exhibits, gift shops and the NYSKYRIDE theater, it reigns as one of the top tourist attractions in the world.
With a commitment to further wow visitors, the Empire State Building called upon Duggal Visual Solutions to transform the passageways and lobbies into another New York City icon; Central Park. Duggal experts in printing, fabrication and installation produced an innovative design solution that 'transports' guests from the lobby into a walk through Central Park. As visitors make their way to the observation decks and NYSKYRIDE, they stroll down cobblestone paths through a scenic park forest, complete with park benches and illuminated lamp posts.
Applying expertise in large format graphics, Duggal created park panoramas in one seamless print; 10-foot high and a demanding 85-foot long, then positioned them with absolute precision. Because of the nature of working within an 82-year-old landmark building, the custom wall covering also required the ability to bend and curve with the architecture, covering columns and doors while wrapping around wall fixtures.
The new Central Park display spans 3 rooms and also includes high-resolution illuminated images of the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square and the Manhattan skyline. A trip to the Empire State Building is now even more imaginative and - most importantly - more memorable.
