David Jay is a contemporary photographer who began his career in fashion and beauty photography. He’s been published in numerous prestigious media outlets including New York Times, TIME, and LIFE. He began the SCAR Project in 2011, a photographic depiction of breast cancer survivors and their mastectomy scars. The project is ever-growing and now has an exhibition touring internationally.
The Unknown Soldier by David Jay chronicles the soldiers wounded and scarred during the Afghanistan conflict and the second Gulf War. The large-scale photographs document the severely wounded soldiers upon their arrival back in the United States. Displaying imagery that opens our eyes to the trauma and injury suffered by those risking their lives abroad in defense of our nation, The Unknown Soldier is a critically acclaimed body of work that earned David Jay the Lucie Award for Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year. The works used in this traveling exhibition were sponsored for print by Duggal Visual Solutions.
Duggal also recently had the pleasure to assist David Jay in producing work for his exhibition at Miami, Florida’s Art Basel event -- which premiered this week. The show will be running until the end of the month, and displays a collection of work entitled RED!... and Other Stories. The exhibition is a survey of his work over the past decade, including images from The Unknown Soldier, as well as premiering works from his new series’ “RED!”and “Naked Ladies.” Both works take a look at the more intimate aspects of humanity through portraits of nudes with an “unflinching grace.”
Throughout the month of December, Jay will begin work on a new series entitled “PORTRAIT”a series of portraits of the art world’s most interesting and influential personalities.
Duggal Visual Solutions is honored to help David Jay continue to inspire with his beautiful images.
RED!... and Other Stories will be on display at 48 NW 25th St, Miami, Fl. 33127
