The long-awaited City Acres Market is now open at 70 Pine Street in Manhattan’s Financial District, signifying the neighborhood’s recovery from Hurricane Sandy in 2012. A sprawling food hall and high-end grocery store in one, City Acres Market offers every culinary element a Downtown Manhattanite or FiDi worker could ever need, right in the heart of Wall Street.
“This is basically a one-stop shop for everybody,” Bibi Janus, a founder of the cold-press juice seller and City Acres food hall vendor, JuiceBrothers, told am New York. “You can get your smoothies upstairs and if your other half wants to have dumplings and pizza, that’s fine.”
Janus, who also helps with City Acres’ marketing, is referring to the other popular vendors to be found at 70 Pine: Vanessa’s Dumpling House and Artichoke Basille’s Pizza. There are also plenty of vegan options thanks to Cinnamon Snail, Beyond Sushi and Janus’ JuiceBrothers.
Duggal Visual Solutions was called on to produce full-scale, upscale signage capturing the essence of the City Acres mission to “deliver an elevated shopping experience that embraces food, and appeals to both the new and established residents of the neighbourhood.” Laser-etched wood, cloth-face lightboxes, translucent displays, dimensional lettering and a feast of sophisticated visual elements create the sense of luxury that makes Downtown Manhattan the ideal place to work, live and embrace being a New Yorker.
Now with flagships in South Williamsburg and Wall Street, City Acres Market is eyeing expansion throughout the New York City metro area. Duggal is excited to see what’s in store for this innovative and inspired grocer.
