Duggal at Global Shop 2016 – Meet Our Artist – Quinn Tivey

Industry News
Quinn Tivey makes work at the borders between that which exists in real life and that which exists in the digital world. Quinn loves using innovative technology such as stereoscopic imagery, photo-sculpture hybrids, and 3D lenticular lightboxes, to explore how digital representation always has a tenuous hold on the real. It slips sometimes and then the digital experience is revealed to be something else—not quite what we anticipated or hoped for, but nevertheless, visually entrancing. Quinn wants to make art that challenges traditional photography-based work and challenges the viewer to consider our new relations with the image.
Quinn recently graduated last year from the School of Visual Arts in the department of Photography, Video, and Related Media with an MFA and is based in New York. Quinn’s thesis work consisted of a series of large-scale and abstract sourced from strangers’ web-based self-portraits. He has exhibited work in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles, and showed at Pulse Art Fair Miami. He had his first book HOMEMADE, was published last fall, and was featured at the NY Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1. Quinn hopes to use Duggal’s Dimensional Printing tools to create his showcased work.
