In one of America’s most challenged cities, an anti-poverty group is cultivating students’ creativity into marketable skills with the help of Duggal Visual Solutions.
In May 2017, the Duggal Big Picture Foundation donated a Mac computer with the Adobe Creative Suite and related learning software to the United Community Corporation in Newark, N.J. Formed in 1964 as Newark’s Community Action Agency, UCC assists low-income, disadvantaged and at-risk individuals and families to become self-supporting while enhancing their quality of life and standard of living. The non-profit group serves more than 1,200 individuals throughout Newark annually.
Duggal visited UCC to install the computer, also giving a brief tutorial on Adobe Photoshop and the learning software. As the students explore their creative interests, we plan to offer internship opportunities to further enhance UCC’s educational services.
