Before the 1850’s the vast majority of clothing was home made. With the birth of the industrial revolution, production of clothing became almost entirely automated overnight. As the European textile industry boomed, the cottage industries that had once provided all clothing began a quick descent into extinction. One hundred & sixty years later, finding a person who makes all of their own clothes is rare, to say the least.
