Opera Gloves: Opera gloves are gloves that go past the elbow, and have been around since at least the 18th century. Opera gloves became popular during the Regency period between 1800 and 1825 and then became popular again in the late 19th century and early 20th century just before World War I. Opera gloves were worn by women during the day and evening, and during that period, gloves in general, were considered mandatory for men and women of the upper class. Today, opera gloves are popular accessories for prom, debutante, ballroom, and bridal gowns.
