Times Square Ball: Since December 31, 1907, the time ball has been dropped from the flagpole at One Times Square every New Year's Eve. The ball is currently made by Waterford Crystal and the theme to ring in 2012 is "The Year of Friendship". The 2012 ball weighs 11,875 lbs and has 2,688 crystal triangles with more than 16 million colors
