Verrazano-Narrows Bridge: The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge connects Staten Island and Brooklyn at The Narrows (the tidal strait that separates Staten Island and Brooklyn). It is a double-decked suspension bridge and was named after the Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano. The bridge was the longest suspension bridge at 4,260 ft. until 1981. It now has the 8th longest center span in the world.
