The Dakota: The Dakota apartment building is located on the Upper West Side in Manhattan at 72nd St. and Central Park West. Edward Clarke developed the Dakota building and introduced a new style of living - tenants would rent out full serviced flats. Famous tenants include Judy Garland, Leonard Bernstein, Paul Simon and John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono; Ono still lives at The Dakota.
In 1980 former Beatle John Lennon was gunned down at The Dakota.
