The High Line: The High Line was built during the 1930s as part of the West Side Improvement project. The High Line lifted freight traffic 30 feet above the street to rid Manhattan’s streets of dangerous trains. No trains have run on the High Line since 1980 but it is open to the public as a park. The park is on the west side and runs from Gansevoort Street to West 34th Street between 10th and 11th avenues. It is open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily.
