As Jersey City set its sights on creating a new identity, the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation (JCEDC) put out an open call to creatives for logo and tagline ideas.
“We know that Jersey City has some of the most talented artists and creative collaborators in the nation,” the JCEDC said. “We also know those who live and work here have a civic pride second to none.”
The submissions have been narrowed down to five finalists that will be judged in various components, including formal presentation and an NJ.com readers’ poll. Here they are:
Now, Jersey City is no small town - more than 250,000 people live there. It’s the seat of one of the most densely populated counties in the U.S., and a perennial pick for NYC commuters. According to the Wall Street Journal, Jersey City’s population is projected to surpass Newark, New Jersey’s largest city, by the end of 2016. We find it refreshing that a campaign of this magnitude could sprout off a nothing-to-lose submission from a budding designer.
What do you think of the finalists? The winner will receive $5,000 and consideration in Jersey City’s marketing campaign.
