There is a palpable energy in the air around Madison Square Garden as a buzzworthy event is about to take place in the “World’s Most Famous Arena.” When the 60th Annual Grammy Awards came to New York City on Jan. 28, 2018, it was the first time the Big Apple played host to the ceremony since 2003. Between the star power, stage and history, the excitement both in and outside The Garden reached surreal, almost transcendent heights.
With a continued track record of success managing the graphics on MSG’s entrances and exterior, Duggal Visual Solutions was invited to transform the 7th Avenue breezeway for the much-anticipated return of The Grammys. Duggal’s Carole Garcia consulted with both the arena’s production team and The Recording Academy to develop large-scale, high-resolution imagery including banners, adhesive murals and prints – all suitable for installation onto glass, marble and concrete.
With the help of Joe Thompson, Karen Moy and many others within Duggal’s production team, Garcia was able to synchronize timelines and files from every corporate sponsor, ultimately bringing it all together quickly and with absolute precision to meet every structural challenge in The Garden’s iconic architecture. The result was a visual atmosphere that matched the aura of significance in the venue, event, guests and Grammy nominees all at once.
