Picture a pair of Zambonis barreling down a busy Midtown Manhattan street on a spring afternoon.
That was the scene when beloved New York Rangers alumni Stephane Matteau and Ron Duguay squared off at the first-ever Rangers Zamboni Challenge near Madison Square Garden. Decked in racing gear and equipped with pit crews, the former NY hockey stars raced Rangers-decorated Zambonis down 33rd street as fans cheered them on and celebrated the arrival of playoff hockey in New York. Top Model Alejandra Cata dropped the green flag to start the race, while Rangers icon Adam Graves greeted Matteau and Duguay at the finish line. Duguay won the race and – as seen in this video – was elated to receive the Rangers Zamboni Challenge Cup.
A proud visual display partner of the New York Rangers, Duggal Visual Solutions enjoyed sprucing up Matteau’s and Duguay’s Zambonis with icy Rangers graphics. After the race, fans marveled at the Zambonis, which were on display outside The Garden.
