Nikon’s new range of camera lenses feature a top-notch component to keep your lens clean and your images crystal clear.
In a two-minute promotional video, Nikon Japan boasts the wonders of fluorine coating, designed to keep unwanted materials from building up on the lens.
Compared to competitors' coating, fluorine ensures the highest image quality even after water, permanent marker, and other unwanted liquids touch the lens. Essentially, the fluorine serves as a hydrophobic barrier for the camera lens.
The coating is also designed to endure a "higher frequency of lens surface wiping and provides a longer-duration staying power,” Nikon says on its website.
Nikon's fluorine coat is being applied first to the AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR and AF-S TELECONVERTER TC-14E III.
