U.S. veterans at the Manhattan Campus of the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System on 23rd Street sang along to a medley of Christmas carols and took in a first glimpse of the facility’s bright new lobby area at a special holiday reception Dec. 21, 2017.
A partnership between the VA Medical Center, Duggal Visual Solutions and the Duggal Big Picture Foundation has sparked tremendous transformations throughout the hospital, the most recent being a permanent gallery featuring beautiful landscape photographs captured by veterans, including illuminated displays hanging over a new performance stage. A large installation of the VA seal at the front entrance captures the pride that lies in the federal agency’s healthcare services and resources for those who have served our country. All of the visuals were donated by Duggal, along with sound equipment and additional displays for the ground floor and psychiatric rooms.
VA New York Harbor Healthcare System Director, Martina Parauda, presented Duggal Visual Solutions CEO, Mike Duggal, with a plaque commemorating Duggal Visual Solutions’ contributions.
“It’s all donated,” Parauda said. “This is them coming in and saying, ‘How can we help you help veterans?’”
Duggal thanked the veterans in attendance – and those employed at Duggal Visual Solutions – for their service, and commended the VA staff on its mission.
“What is particularly special about this charitable effort is that so many people and departments at Duggal played a role to revitalize this hospital,” Duggal said, before wishing everyone a happy holiday season.
