Always attuned to art, Duggal client Uniqlo is bringing the timeless artwork found in the Louvre to t-shirts and stores through a new partnership with the museum. Wallpaper reports: The Japanese retailer s latest UT (Uniqlo T-shirt) collection features a range of men s and women s hoodies, sweaters and t-shirts with graphics and logos which have been inspired by the 35,000 artworks on show in the Louvre s hallowed exhibition halls, including Da Vinci s Mona Lisa and the ancient Greek statues Winged Victory of Samothrace and Venus de Milo. The collection comes from acclaimed art director Peter Saville, who explained the theme of art and logic. I was intrigued by the fact that at the Louvre, the world-famous Mona Lisa is known as painting No. INV 779 which is its internal inventory number, Saville said in a press release. I thought that exploring that viewpoint on a T-shirt would be appropriate for this UT/ Louvre collaboration. In addition to the collection, which will continue to expand, Uniqlo plans to sponsor programs and events including Free Saturday Nights and Mini-Discovery Tours at the Louvre as part of a four-year partnership. Women s Wear Daily noted that Uniqlo also has an ongoing collection with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, which Duggal helped to launch. Congratulations to and applause for Uniqlo, a brand that continues to combine art and fashion for modern-classic casual wear. Shop the Uniqlo Louvre collection.
