New Years Eve at Times Square
Since 1907 Times Square has been the main sparkly event for many across the nation. Arrive at 3pm (or earlier) on Broadway- Seventh Ave bowtie. Don’t forget there are no public restrooms or food vendors, and leaving is guaranteed giving up your spot. There will be two stages with performances starting at 6 from Macklemore, Robin Thicke and Blondie. The 11,875-pound ball will fall at midnight. Don’t miss out!
If you’re looking for adrenaline Emerald Nuts will be having a four-mile midnight run. A DJ will be spinning pop hits at the Naumberg Bandshell at 10pm. Followed by a holiday costume contest at 11pm. Both the race and fireworks will begin when the clock strikes midnight.
The Kadampa Meditation Center in Chelsea is offering a alternative not to flashy New Year’s Eve extravaganza. There will be drinks and hours d’oeuvres, then a sit for resident teacher Kadam Morten. There will be the Buddha of compassion practice. You will then finish the night toasting to 2014 with booze-free beverages.
