Overalls: Overalls date back to the early 1800s when they were originally called “slops”. They were very uncomfortable; they did not fit well and they were made of rough, durable material. During this time, Overalls were only worn by slaves and other low status people. By the mid 1800s special pockets were designed to hold watches, pencils, hammers, and rulers and overalls became more popular. Overalls were popular during the 1960s and 70s and today come in different styles such as shortails, which are overalls with shorts instead of pants.
