Bikini: women wore two-piece garments almost 3500 years ago in Greece, but the modern day bikini didn’t become popular until much later. In 1946, Frenchman, Louis Réard, designed the modern bikini and named it after Bikini Atoll, where atomic bomb testing was being performed at the time. Dancer, Micheline Bernardini, was the first female to ever wear a bikini in front of press. The bathing suit was small enough it fit into a matchbox.
