Part of global eyewear leader Luxottica, Oakley encourages, enables and embodies an active lifestyle with more than 750 patents. World-class athletes rely on Oakley’s technology to compete at the highest level, while consumers appreciate the blending of fashion and sport performance. From aiding the rescue of 33 trapped Chilean miners in 2010, to sponsoring the U.S. Olympic team in 2012, to expanding into apparel and accessories, Oakley is one of the most recognized brands in stores worldwide.
Oakley’s new Airdrop eyeglasses take center stage in LensCrafters stores across the U.S., after Duggal and Luxottica collaborated to produce an intricate window display. In New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and Oregon, consumers can envision the Oakley lifestyle with the help of vivid, bicycle-themed imagery and real bicycle parts.
Duggal’s Susanne Cyrgalis and coordinator Marty McDonough consulted with Luxottica from the project’s start through finish, bringing in production coordinator and cycling enthusiast Corey French along with associate Ravi Persaud to help source the right-sized wheels, chains and pedal. Duggal Innovation Lab designed the display, with Blaze Gregorio producing 3-D renderings allowing Luxottica to see the installation beforehand. Production manager Michael O’Connell oversaw production of a graphic backboard printed directly to furniture-grade plywood.
Finished with sleek adhesive window graphics in the foreground, the Airdrop showcase inspires shoppers to pedal on and ride masterfully with Oakley urban cyclist Chas Christiansen.
