Weddings are by far among the most emotionally rewarding events to shoot. When you capture someone’s special day, you’re essentially preserving the pure bliss in the air. For the rest of their lives, they’ll look back on your photos and relive the memory – the happiness they felt, who was there to share the excitement, and who might have drank a little too much.
Canadian photographer Liam Hennessey of Applehead Studio brought a touch of creativity to a recent wedding shoot. As PetaPixel reported, Hennessey was hired to photograph a wedding at a hotel near his studio in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. Reimagining the art of wedding photography, he came up with the idea to invite every single wedding guest to the studio for individual portraits.
The result? A dance party to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” that saw 111 people pack the photographer’s tiny headquarters and strike a pose one at a time. Hennessey told PetaPixel that the crowd was “dancing for the camera, drinking our beer, and having a great time.”
And the shoot was just the beginning. After it was over, Hennessey compiled the portraits to create a 6-foot-long panoramic image of each guest side by side against a plain white backdrop. The wedding party is seen at the center of the image.
Now that’s one heck of a keepsake. Hats off to you, Mr. Hennessey.
